Perimeter Fencing is Easy If You Do It Smart

Vinyl is one of the most popular materials for both residential and commercial fencing because it comes in numerous designs and can be used for many different practical and aesthetic purposes. Installing a white vinyl fence in Orange County properly may seem like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be when you follow these few simple guidelines.

Choose the Right Product

Since you’ve probably already researched the numerous materials you can use for a perimeter fence, you’ve most likely found that vinyl is an excellent choice for both practical and aesthetic purposes. Vinyl provides options for decorative and privacy fences in practically any style imaginable. But vinyl is also an excellent choice because of its durability. It has been specially engineered to withstand the hot sun and harsh UV rays to keep it looking good and standing strong for years to come.

Prepare Properly

Preparation is possibly the most important part of the fence building process, so it’s important to spend an appropriate amount of time on this step. Make sure utility lines are located to prevent damage to them. In addition, remove anything that may be in the path of the fence so that you have a clear path and can avoid a delay in the process later on. Place stakes where the posts will be and tie a string between all these stakes to mark the fence line.

Place the Posts

You can place the posts either by digging the holes by hand or with an auger. The holes should be about 10 inches wide and 30 inches deep. Place the posts and seat them with gravel and concrete and then level them in each direction. Once the corner posts are placed and leveled, you can run a string between the posts so that you have a straight line to guide your fence placement. Finish installing the posts and be sure the concrete is dry before moving on to the next step.

Install the Sections

Installation directions for the sections of the fence may vary depending on which product you’re using. Some products snap into the rails, while others may require you to install hardware like brackets onto the posts before sliding the fence sections into place. There may be additional securing of sections to the rails and posts as well. The last step is to place the post caps in place on each of the posts. It’s best to place a little PVC glue on the inside of the cap to prevent them from blowing off in the wind or being otherwise removed.
